1.7Million Experience ASB Every Day

Anti-Social Behaviour Awareness Week 2026

Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) can have a huge impact on people's lives, affecting how safe they feel in their homes and neighbourhoods. That's why we're supporting Anti-Social Behaviour Awareness Week. A national campaign led by Resolve, highlighting the importance of taking action against ASB and ensuring communities know where to turn for support.

At North Star, we believe everyone deserves to feel safe in their home. We work closely with customers, local authorities, the police and other partner organisations to tackle anti-social behaviour and support those affected.

What is anti-social behaviour?

Anti-social behaviour is something that causes or is likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress to others. This can include:

-Noise nuisance

-Verbal abuse or threatening behaviour

-Criminal damage or vandalism

-Drug-related activity

-Fly-tipping or environmental nuisance

-Neighbour disputes involving persistent anti-social behaviour

We understand that every situation is different. We assess each report individually to make sure the most appropriate action is taken.

Reporting anti-social behaviour:

If you're experiencing anti-social behaviour, it's important to report it as soon as possible.

You can contact the Customer Services team at customer.services@northstarhg.co.uk or call 03000 11 00 11.

Our team will listen to your concerns, assess the situation and work with you to agree on the best course of action. Depending on the circumstances, this could involve:

-Investigating the reports

-Working alongside the police or local authority

-Providing advice and support

-Using legal action where appropriate

We do everything we can to make sure that information is treated confidentially and responsibly. However, if someone’s safety is at risk, we are required to report our concerns to the relevant authorities. We encourage customers to keep a record of incidents where possible, including dates, times and details of what happened, as this can help us investigate more effectively.

You can find out more about what anti-social behaviour is, what we can investigate and how to report it here: Anti-social behaviour

Listening to our customers:

We're committed to continually improving the way we respond to anti-social behaviour. Customer feedback plays a vital role in helping us do that.

Our latest Tenant Satisfaction Measures (TSMs) for 2025/26 show that 80.9% of customers are satisfied with North Star's approach to handling anti-social behaviour, an improvement from 78.8% in the previous year.

While we're pleased to see satisfaction increasing, we know there's always more we can do.

Recently, our Your Voice Consumer Standards Group reviewed how we handle reports of anti-social behaviour. This was to make sure customers find it easy to raise concerns and receive the right support. By looking at real customer cases and reviewing our reporting process, the group helped identify several improvements.

As a result, we're:

-Making it easier for customers to report ASB online

-Testing the customer journey to make the reporting process as straightforward as possible

-Improving how we assess risk

-Strengthening communication throughout ASB cases

-Making sure we gather the right information from the start so we can resolve cases more effectively

-Working together to make a difference

Tackling anti-social behaviour is a shared responsibility, and partnership working is key.

The Tenants' Voice (TTV) has identified community issues, including ASB, as one of its priorities. This has helped strengthen partnership working in Hardwick, Stockton-on-Tees, bringing organisations together to tackle anti-social behaviour and improve the local community.

By working with customers and partner agencies, we're helping to create safer, stronger neighbourhoods for everyone.

We're here to help

If you're experiencing anti-social behaviour, please don't suffer in silence. Our team is here to listen, support you and take appropriate action where we can.

Together, we can help make our communities safer places to live.
