Most radiators in your home have a temperature control valve, often called a TRV. These will look something like the above image.
These let you adjust the heat in each room. For example, you can turn the radiator up in rooms you use more often, and down in rooms you use less.
Your main thermostat controls the overall temperature of your home. The radiator valves help you fine-tune the heat in individual rooms.
We don’t recommend turning radiators off completely in any room. This can create cold spots and may increase the risk of damp or mould.
You may notice that at least one radiator in your home does not have a control valve. This is normal and has been fitted this way on purpose, so your heating system works safely and properly.
