Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Points

If your home has an electric vehicle (EV) charging point, this will have been included as part of the design of the home or site.

Different makes and models of EV chargers may be installed, but they all work in a similar way and connect directly to your electricity supply. Any specific instructions for your charger can be found in the user guide provided in your welcome pack.

If you are on a standard electricity tariff, you do not usually need to tell your energy supplier that you own an electric vehicle. Charging your vehicle will be charged at your normal electricity rate.

Some energy suppliers offer EV tariffs with cheaper electricity at off-peak times, usually overnight. If you choose one of these tariffs, you may need to inform your supplier and have a smart meter installed. Tariffs and rates vary, so it’s worth comparing options to find what works best for you.
