Chair of Board

I’ve been a Board Member since 2022 and was appointed Chair of the Board in September 2025.

My “day job” is as Chief Executive of UMi, an organisation that provides business advice and finance to small and medium-sized companies across the UK. Since 2007, we’ve worked with more than 600,000 businesses, and we’re proud to be 100% employee-owned and a certified BCorp. We believe businesses have the power to make a difference to lives and the planet, not just make money, and I’m passionate about supporting that vision.

I’ve held a number of other board positions over the years, which has given me a broad understanding of governance and responsibility. I really enjoy working with people who want to create positive change, and being part of North Star allows me to do just that. I’m particularly interested in ensuring customers feel heard and valued, and I see complaints as a vital part of making services better.

Outside of work, you’ll usually find me walking up a hill in the middle of nowhere, with a good pub meal waiting at the end of it!
