Many households face higher energy costs this winter. Support is available through the Warm Home Discount Scheme and Pension Credit. Both can make a big difference. However, scammers are trying to trick people who could get this help, so it’s important to be careful.
Warm Home Discount Scheme for Winter 2025/26
The Warm Home Discount (WHD) gives £150 off your electricity bill if you have a low income.
What you need to know:
- If you are eligible, your electricity supplier will apply the discount automatically – you do not need to apply.
- The helpline is open now if you have questions: 0800 030 9322
- If you get the Guarantee Credit part of Pension Credit, you usually qualify automatically (if your name is on the electricity account and your supplier takes part)
- Letters will be sent by January 2026 to households that may be eligible

Protect Yourself from Scams
Some people are sending fake messages about the Warm Home Discount to try to steal money or personal details.
Remember:
- The UK Government will never text or email you about this scheme
- You will never be asked for your bank details by the Government or Ofgem
- If you are eligible, you will get a letter in the post between October and December 2025 from:

- Do not click on links in texts or emails that look suspicious. Delete them straight away.
