Community Flags
We have noted the recent increase in the display of flags, particularly the St George’s Cross and the Union Flag, on street lighting columns road surfaces, roundabouts, external walls and crossings.
As a community-based housing provider, we respect and value our communities’ desire to express national pride, celebrate special events, and remember significant moments. These expressions are an important part of local identity and culture.
However, North Star will act swiftly if it appears that flags or related displays are being used to intimidate, harass, or threaten individuals or communities. We will work with our partners, including local authorities and the police, to ensure that all residents feel safe and respected in their neighbourhoods.
