North Star welcomes residents of Darlington Housing Association - Find out more
At North Star, we care about the environment, and we’ve pledged to do everything we can to minimise our impact on the planet. Homes across the UK contribute 23% of the UK’s carbon emissions, and 10% of that figure is contributed by social housing. With that thought in mind, we at North Star have a responsibility to help ensure that both our housing and our business operations are as sustainable as possible, as we as a nation move towards Net Zero emissions in 2050.
View The Environmental StrategyWe are working hard to reduce the carbon emissions from our existing properties.
We are ensuring that any new homes built by North Star are future fit and energy efficient, in line with Future Home Standards.
We are striving to better understand the needs of our customers, reducing carbon usage in homes and alleviating fuel poverty.
We are developing greener business practices to reduce our waste and the overall environmental impact of North Star as a business.
Whilst our goals will remain the same, our plan is designed to be iterative, collaborative, and flexible in accordance with developments to technological, learning, and national policy developments.
In order to reduce our environmental impact as a nation, we all have a role to play, whether via wholesale changes at the corporate level, or small changes to one’s everyday life.
That’s why, as a company, North Star is wholly committed to making significant changes to the way in which we do business. View the breakdown of our 2050 Net Zero strategy here:
