What is a Stock Condition Survey?
A stock condition survey is a comprehensive visual inspection of a property.
Typically, they involve a trained surveyor carrying out a visual inspection of both the interior and exterior of the home and tend to take no more than an hour. We schedule the surveys roughly every five years.
The survey examines various elements of the property, including:
– External features: roof, walls, windows, doors, fences, and paths
– Internal components: kitchen, bathroom, heating system, and electrics
– Major building elements like insulation and overall structure
– Energy efficiency features
What happens during a Stock Condition Survey?
During the survey, the surveyor:
– Assesses the age and condition of major components
– Takes photographs of relevant areas (not personal belongings)
– May ask residents a few questions about the property such as whether they have any ongoing issues
Why are Stock Condition Surveys important?
Stock condition surveys are crucial for several reasons:
– They help to ensure our homes comply with the Government’s Decent Home Standard
– They help us plan future repairs and improvements
– They assist in financial planning for property maintenance
– They ensure homes are safe and meet required standards
It’s important to note that while these surveys help identify potential issues, they do not typically address immediate repair needs, so please report these via our Customer Services team by emailing customer.services@northstarhg.co.uk or calling them on 03000 11 00 11.
