North Star, in partnership with Heritage North, Clarion Homes and Darlington Council is delighted to announce the successful completion of 12 high quality bungalows for rent in Middleton St George, Darlington. These two bedroom bungalows of which two are adapted for wheelchair users, have been built to meet the increasing demand for older persons housing and all have been allocated to people who have a local connection to the area.

Cllr Kevin Nicholson, Darlington Borough Council’s cabinet member for health and housing, said: “It’s great that North Star is providing more affordable homes for our older residents in the borough. Bungalows are in high demand, particularly in the social housing sector, and to have some wheelchair friendly properties is extremely helpful. “The feedback from residents has been very positive and we wish everyone well in their new homes.”

The £1.7m development cost was assisted by grant funding from the Government Agency Homes England who provided around £470k grant making the scheme deliverable and affordable. • Modern kitchens complete with built in cooker and induction hobs.

• Good external space with a generous sized, turfed garden is turfed and parking.

• A number of homes built for people who use wheelchairs. With design features that include rise and fall worktops , larger bathrooms and carports

• Energy efficient insulation and, underfloor heating

We have ambitious plans to build at least 500 new homes by 2023 and will continue to invest in building great homes to meet local need”
