North Star welcomes residents of Darlington Housing Association - Find out more

Ken Loach’s pivotal 1966 televised play Cathy Come Home, told the story of Cathy, her family and the horrendous impact that homelessness had on them.  The story sparked public outrage and led to the founding of the charity Crisis. Endeavour Housing Association was established in the years after.

50 years later, a group of early housing associations gathered to consider what had changed during the intervening period and what our response to the continuing homelessness epidemic should be today. The Homes for Cathy group formed an alliance of housing associations and local authorities committed to ending homelessness. Since 2016 Homes for Cathy have worked in partnership with Crisis to develop a housing association commitment to ending homelessness.

As an active member of the “ Homes for Cathy “ group we are delighted to be  hosting  the North East regional workshop on 14th February. We are bringing together partners from across the region, to identify how we can work together to  do more
